The different odds formats

Decimal odds

Decimal odds are the most popular types of odds in Europe. As the name suggests they are written as a decimal number. For instance, when you place a $100 bet at decimal odd 1.50 your potential pay-out is $150. Therefore, if the bet is won $150 will be returned to your balance ($100 being your stake and $50 the profit for the bet).

Fractional odds

The type of odds where the bettor’s return is expressed as a fraction. This means that if you bet on an event with 2/1 fractional odds, you can potentially win two units for every unit wagered. The denominator (bottom number) in this example represents the amount staked and the numerator (top number) indicates how much can be won from this wager. In this case winning £2 for each £1 staked.

American odds

These are mostly used by bookmakers operating from North America. Generally, the odds can be expressed as (+) positive or (-) negative numbers. Therefore, the positive odds express how much you can win if you bet $100. Meanwhile, the negative odds show how much you risk in order to win $100.

Hong Kong odds

A type of betting odds format that is expressed in decimal numbers. These odds represent the amount you stand to win if you wager on an event, with the stake included in the return. For example, if Hong Kong Odds were 2.00 this would mean for every dollar bet, two dollars will be returned (including your original stake).

Indo odds

Indo are the most popular types of odds used in Indonesia as the title suggests. They are likewise to fractional odds used in the UK and Europe, but expressed in decimal numbers which makes them easier for bettors to read and understand.

Malay Odds

The odds are displayed as positive and negative numbers. The coefficients indicate the likelihood of an event to happen. The odds in this system use two different calculations: when a number is positive, it indicates that the pay-out will be equal to the stake multiplied by the odds; and when it’s negative, then it means that the pay-out doubles your original stake.

We designed the tool that allows you to easily compare the different types of odds offered by bookmakers. To use it, just fill in the odd in any of the box.
